Asin has been so over worked and busy these days that finally, her body could not take the strain and she passes out at an Andheri club because of non-stop interviews that she had to give for her latest film, ‘London Dreams’. The actress had reportedly slept for barely 3-4 hours last week and on that day, she had no sleep or food. This, added to the fact that she was on a slimming diet, led to her collapse and she had to be revived by her staff and friends by instant energy boosters.

Later, she rested at home on her birthday. When she came home on Sunday evening, her parents had done up the entire house with balloons, like they used to when she was younger. The night was spent with close friends who came over to dinner after which they made her cut the cake at midnight. She also spent some part of her day with children from her building.

Asin was in Singapore when a man, who seemed to be in his mid-20s, kept following her everywhere. The drama unfolded at the hotel where she was staying. He approached Asin to talk to her, without paying heed to the security guards surrounding her.A friend of Asin, who was with her, said, “Before she could react, he started taking her pictures. Suddenly, he started behaving even more strangely. He pretended he was her bodyguard and stopped people from going near her.”During the function, he tricked the security guards at the venue and reached the dining room where Asin was having a meal. “He told the guards that he had come from Indore and wanted to talk to her at any cost. He tried every trick in the book to convince them and succeeded,” Asin’s friend said.The man followed her even when she was shopping at a mall. When she reached the hotel, she saw him in the lobby too.Next morning, Asin rushed out of the hotel and headed straight to the airport for her flight to Mumbai. “She feared that he would be waiting outside the airport, but luckily this time, he wasn’t around,” said the friend.Confirming the unpleasant incident, Asin’s manager said, “Yes, Asin had a problem in Singapore with a stalker.”Meanwhile, Asin has given instructions to the guards in her building to ensure that the unpleasant incident is not repeated. .

Asin Can't Leave Non-veg, even for a single day

Ghajini fame actress Asin Thottumkal has turned down animal welfare group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' (PETA) request to promote vegetarianism. She said she is a hardcore non-vegetarian and, therefore, it would be unfair to accept the offer."After I entered the film industry, I restricted my non-veg diet to fish and chicken. I can't, however, remain without non-veg food even for a single day. Therefore, it won't be proper for me to involve myself in the campaign against non-vegetarian food, " said Asin.From time to time, PETA ropes in celebrities and puts them in the forefront of its campaign to popularise vegetarian food habits. Aishwarya Rai and Manisha Koirala are among the few Bollywood actors who have lent their support to the campaign.

Indo-Japanese film falls through, Asin is fuming

Kamal Haasan has apparently pulled out of the big-budget Walt Disney production. Asin’s prestigious Indo-Japanese project The 19th Step is apparently shelved, leaving the comely actress Asin with tons of time that she had set aside not only to learn and practice the ancient art of Kalaripayattu, but also to shoot for the film in Japan and Kerala.According to sources; the project has fallen through for no fault of Asin’s.Says the source, “The film’s producers Walt Disney and leading man Kamal Haasan have had a serious disagreement. He isn’t doing the film. And if Kamal Haasan isn’t doing the film, neither is Asin. She agreed to do a Tamil film at this juncture when her Hindi career has taken off, only because of Kamal Haasan whom Asin respects a lot.”At the time of writing this, The 19th Step seems as good as shelved. And Asin, inundated with offers is work-less. Unless, she quickly accepts another project to fill her now empty date diary.Says a source close to the actress, “Asin is upset with the way the whole Indo-Japanese project was managed. After Vipul Shah’s London Dreams she said no to everything in Mumbai including Priyadarshan’s Dan Dana Dhan and Farhan Akhtar’s Kartik Calling Kartik for 19th Step with Kamal Haasan; whom she respects immensely has requested her to.”Incidentally the number of projects with A R Rahman’s music to be shelved or cancelled has just gone a ‘step’ ahead with 19th Step. Mani Ratnam’s Lajjo and Kamal Haasan’s Marmyogi were also shelved recently. And earlier Bharat Bala who was to direct 19th Step was supposed to do Taj Mahal with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Mumtaz Mahal with Rahman’s music.

Don't bring your dad on sets, heroes tell Asin

Asin Thottumkal became a household name after the success of the Hindi film "Ghajini". The actress, who is presently working for "London Dreams" with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan, has stopped bringing her father on the sets after her Bollywood co-stars requested her not to do so.Earlier, Asin used to be accompanied by her father on movie sets. But nowadays she comes alone.According to sources, her Bollywood co-stars have asked her not to bring her father to shooting locations and the actress has obliged them.Meanwhile Asin's "19 Steps" with Kamal Haasan, has been stalled.Kamal, who was to play a significant role in the film, reportedly suggested some major changes to producer Bharatbala vis-a-vis the script and the latter didn't take it kindly. As a result Kamal backed out of the film, forcing the movie's abandonment for the time being.

Asin's devoted dad refuses to get surgery done in spite of the acute pain. Joseph Thottumkal currently in hospital has been attending to all of his daughter’s business calls from the bed.“He is on drip. No food allowed. Na ghar ka na hospital ka…and still he’s constantly on the phone discussing and confirming my prior engagements. He’s very clear on one thing.Under no circumstance am I supposed to let any of my commitments suffer because of his hospitalization, ” says the proud devoted emotional and slightly bereft but strong daughter unwilling to show her emotions.As her father prepares to go under the knife for an appendectomy, for the first time in her life Asin has to manage her life and career without her father.To compound her distress Asin’s mother who’s a doctor is also spending as much time with Josaph Thottumkal as possible, leaving Asin with no choice but to fend for herself in the house.“My father was in pain for sometime. He tried to play it down, took painkillers. But then it got worse. And we were unable to go to my native place in Kerala to cast my vote for the Lok Sabha elections.For the first time in my professional career I found myself traveling alone to Bangalore for a commitment. It felt…. different. But one has to manage. I’d like to believe I’m quite a capable girl.”Asin returned from Bangalore on Sunday and rushed straight to the Kokilabhen Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital where her father had been admitted. “It’s quite near to where we live, yet seems so far away….”Though she puts up a brave front it isn’t easy. “That’s why he has been avoiding getting into the hospital. He felt if he was off his feet my work would suffer. But this time I’m determined to prove him wrong.I’ll continue my work in his absence. In fact I’m going to be shooting for an ad today, Tuesday. Will I miss my dad? He has taught me to be a strong girl.” .
